Through its specialist staff HERA provides a combination of research, training, advisory, industry development and promotional services making it the national centre for metals-based product development, manufacturing technology and inspection and quality assurance.

Design Structural Steel Hollow Section Connections Update
Design of Structural Steel Hollow Section Connections Vol 1 Design Models, 1st edition 1996 by A.A. Syam & B.G. Chapman is under consideration for updating by the Australian Steel Institute. A technical note has been prepared in order to advise of known Errata and of more up-to-date information for some sections of the publication. View it HERE.

HERA Report R4-100 Update
The Structural Steelwork Connection Guide HERA Report R4-100 published in 1999 has been superseded by Steel Construction New Zealand (SCNZ) Report 14:2007 Steel Connect Structural Steel Connections Guide. This guide can be purchased in hard copy from SCNZ and also accessed online for a small annual fee. Please contact SCNZ for further information.

Withdrawl of Design and Construction Bulletins
All Design and Construction Bulletins are currently under review and have been removed from the HERA web site. Care should be taken when using DCBs as many are superseded and/or are out of date. We would appreciate any feedback on DCBs commonly used such that we can prioritise the revue process. Please contact the Structural Systems Division with feedback or information in regards to specific design or use of DCBs.

HERA Geothermal Capability Register Now Available
The HERA produced document R5-35 Geothermal Capability Register showcases New Zealand companies with experience in the area of renewable geothermal energy production. You can download the document HERE or email to order a printed version.
